Today, I announced I'm running for US Senate.
During the Special Election, many of you had a chance to get to know some my background, but I also want you to know why I want to serve again, this time in the US Senate.
In today's announcement, I tried to explain the concept of a call to service that has motivated me politically just as it motivated me to serve in Iraq. This is the concept I wrote of in my last diary, a concept I hope to focus upon while campaigning over the course of the next year. If people will join me in accepting the call to service, then we will find success before the first vote is cast.
In the Special Election, I received contributions from every state, which allowed us to go toe-to-toe with the Republicans in the media. In this race, I need more from you, I also need your ideas.
How can I best convey why we need real change in Washington, DC? How can we use our unique media potential refocus politics on what matters most? What does matter most to you? What is mostly not talked about that matters to you? How can we facilitate getting more people to serve and participate in our democracy?
Our founding fathers started a tradition of the citizen legislator, how can we work together to renew this tradition and get more people involved in politics?
